Writing down what the lab learns.

The lab publishes because building in private and reasoning in public keep each other honest. Original writing on AI ethics, cognition, and governance, alongside university teaching and executive education.

Forthcoming

Before the Concrete Sets

A full-length work of nonfiction on AI ethics, cognition, and governance, written in five movements and currently in final editorial preparation. Publication details will be announced at imranmtanveer.com.

The book argues that the defining decisions about artificial intelligence are being poured now, while the concrete is still wet, and that the frameworks we choose in this window will harden into the defaults of the next several decades. It draws on governance theory, cognitive science, and thirty years of building and governing real operating systems, from restaurants to technology firms, to ask what judgment is, what machines can and cannot hold of it, and how institutions should be designed around that boundary.

It is written for founders, executives, educators, and policymakers who will make AI decisions whether or not they feel prepared to, and it favors working principles over abstractions.

Teaching

University instruction

The firm's founder teaches marketing, marketing research, and applied AI at two British Columbia post-secondary institutions, bringing venture practice into the classroom and classroom rigor back into the lab.

Executive education

Masterclasses on ethical AI

Invited sessions for entrepreneurs and business owners on adopting AI responsibly: the ethical fault lines, working governance frameworks, and ethics as competitive advantage. Delivered for leadership programs and available by arrangement.
